Manhunt underway near Willis after deadly armored truck robbery

November 19, 2019 by Andre Perrard

One suspect is dead and the other is the subject of a manhunt after a bank robbery in WIllis.

The armored truck heist at the Chase Bank turned deadly on Tuesday, when a Brinks employee opened fire on two men attempting to rob him as he serviced an ATM at the bank. One of the suspects was shot dead, and the other escaped and is still on the run. Officials believe the second man was injured during the shooting, but could not confirm that.

The name of the suspect killed has not been released, as authorities try to find next of kin. All that was released is that it was a 27 year old man from the Houston area.

The Chase Bank is located on FM 1097, which is where witnesses saw the second man run. Law enforcement searched via helicopter while others searched the local area. As of Tuesday afternoon, he remains at large.

We will update you as we find out more here on Willy 1550 and 98.7 FM.
