The state of Navasota’s is strong. That’s what Mayor Bert Miller told a packed Navasota Center crowd at last week’s State Of The City Address. Besides lots more visitors coming here to check out the Texas Blues Capital, Miller revealed it’ll soon be cheaper to live here with the City’s Fire Rating improvements.
Miller told the packed crowd, all the programs and events filled the city center with visitors and residents last year and were major successes. Altogether, he reported, special events like concerts, Treats On The Streets and Home For The Holidays brought about 20,000 visitors to the area; twice what 2014’s count was.
Miller then looked ahead to the next big event on the horizon, the Texas Birthday Bash adding it is the premier event celebrating all things Texan.
And adding to a list of notable birthdays, the mayor gleefully said after the Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce celebrates being a century old at this year’s Chamber Banquet, Navasota will be celebrating its 150th birthday in October, for which there’ll be a big celebration as well.
And when those plans are made known, you’ll hear about on Navasota News.
