Missing front license plate leads to arrest of Anderson man and discovery of drugs

An Anderson man faces two drug charges following a traffic stop for not having a front license plate.

According to the arrest report from the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, they stopped a Chevy Suburban on William D. Fitch near Rock Prairie last Friday, May 14th. The driver explained he did not ave a front license plate, and when the officer ran his identification, it was advised the man had out a Blue Warrant, for violating probation or parole. He was placed under arrest, and taken to jail.

Upon arriving at the Brazos County jail, while walking inside, a small cylinder object fell out of the man’s pants, near his left foot. The man said it was a vape pen, ut did not know what was inside, saying it could be a form of synthetic marijuana. During a more thorough search, a small baggie of a white crystal, and a small pipe with marijuana residue.

The man admitted to the baggie containing methamphetamine, with another test confirming the pen contained THC oil. He was then charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG2.

He was identified as 37 year old Ralph Lee Burnett Jr. of Anderson.

At last check, he remains in the Brazos County jail on bonds totaling $10,000. It is Burnett’s 6th time in the Brazos County jail since 2005.
