Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy shot near Magnolia, suspect in custody after short manhunt

One person has been arrested after a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy was shot Thursday morning near Magnolia.

Authorities said that incident happened on Allyson Road, just off FM 149 and north of 1488 in Montgomery County, when the suspect began firing gunshots at his neighbors, and then fired at deputies as they arrived on scene.

One officer was hit with what is believed to be bird shot from a shotgun, and suffered injuries to his leg, arm and head. According to the Sheriff’s Office in Montgomery County, the deputy was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect fled, and was subject of an overnight manhunt in the area, where residents of Magnolia were advised to stay in their homes. The suspect was found a few hours later, as deputies talked him into surrendering peacefully.
