“Move Over Slow Down” Law Has Enhanced Penalties

September 6, 2023 by Willy1550

The State of Texas has had the “Move Over Slow Down” law on the books for 20 years, but as of September 1st, with the passing of HB 898, there are enhanced penalties for drivers who do not either change lanes, or slow down 20 MPH below the posted speed limit when emergency or designated vehicles have their flashing lights engaged on the side of the highway.

DPS Sergeant Stephen Woodard talked about it on Willy’s  “Let’s Talk Traffic” segment on Wednesday
