Multi-county, high speed chase ends near the Navasota River

March 30, 2020 by Willy1550

A multi-County high speed chase on Friday afternoon ended near the Grimes County line.

DPS troopers said a female stole a vehicle from the Somerville area. From there, she fled authorities through Burleson County and Brazos County. During the chase, the woman threw items out of the vehicle that struck patrol cars.

Finally, she was stopped by spike strips thrown down by officers and was stopped near the Navasota River. The driver is then accused of getting out and swinging a bat, which resulted in the woman being shot with a taser.

The woman was arrested and identified as 29 year old Tabitha Windom of Somerville. She faces charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest, and Aggravated Assault.

Multiple agencies assisted in the chase.

Windom was transported to the Burleson County Jail.
