Multi-County Pursuit Through Grimes County Ends with Arrest in Hempstead

According to a College Station Police Department arrest report, “A chase began after an SUV ran a stop sign at Longmire Drive in College Station. Another attempt was made to stop in the 3100 block of Texas Avenue South. The vehicle initially yielded to law enforcement, but then immediately sped off and proceeded to get on the main lanes of Hwy 6 South at a high rate of speed, which turned into a vehicle pursuit.
Speeds were in excess of one hundred miles per hour. While still southbound, the defendant began discarding large clear baggies of a crystal-like substance.
The defendant then ran the stop sign at Hwy 6 frontage road and FM 3090, traveled back to the main lanes of Hwy 6 southbound through Navasota into Waller County where a tire deflation device was deployed by Waller County Sheriff’s Office disabling multiple tires. The vehicle continued into the city of Hempstead where the defendant pulled over and was taken into custody without incident.
Officers seized what was described as shards of methamphetamine from the roadside and caught on the driver’s sweater.
31-year-old Brad Ellwood of Bryan was arrested on charges related to the chase and the drugs. He was also arrested on warrants related to six pending trials on two felony and four misdemeanor charges from arrests in 2021 and 2022.”
