Murder trial for Madisonville man pushed back

October 29, 2019 by Willy1550

The trial for a murder by a Madisonville man that took place in Grimes County has been pushed back.

James Daniel Green of Bedias and Colton Joe Manning of Madisonville were arrested and charged with the murder of Jason Currie in 2016.

According to the Grimes county district Attorney’s Office, Manning’s defense attorney asked for a continuance in the case, and the trial is now set to happen in early 2020.

The murder took place June 26th of 2016 at a property southwest of Bedias, when Manning and Green met with Currie and his friend to buy methamphetamine. Once the parties arrived, there was a fight. The friend said that Manning and Green shot Currie while he escaped in his truck, later losing control and crashing it.

When Green was questioned, authorities said he admitted he and manning had shot Currie, loaded his body into Green’s truck and dumped it in one location. The next day, they moved the body to a creek bed off County Road 142, where the remains were found on July 13th.

Green was convicted for his role in April and is serving a life sentence.
