Human remains discovered in Grimes County has resulted in three peoples arrests on charges of capital murder.
That’s according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales, who says the remains found are believed to be that of 21 year old Zuhyr Kaleem, who was reported missing exactly one year ago on April 28th 2019.
Harris County Investigators began investigating the case as a homicide in August 2019, finding Kaleem was murdered during a drug deal, with his body disposed elsewhere.
Last Saturday, April 25th, 21 year olds Jose Varela and Austin Walker were arrested and charged. At that point, investigators say both men provided statements admitting to their involvement in Kaleem’s murder. The third suspect, 22 year old Eric Aguilar, was arrested and charged yesterday for his role.
Harris County Investigators, Texas Rangers and the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office were taken to a residence in the 8200 block of Loblolly Lane, near Todd Mission. There, 23 year old Gannon Gotlieb admitted to burying Kaleem’s body on the property.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine Kaleem’s cause of death.
Varela, Walker and Aguilar each face Capital Murder charges. Gotlieb faces charges of Tampering with Evidence or a Human Body.
