As Navasota continues to grow, you can do your part to keep it neighborly, by taking part in this year’s national night out.
Navasota Police Department’s Marla Gurka says the whole point of this 31-year-old program is to keep communities together, expand your knowledge of safety and crime and most of all take back the streets of our city.
Gurka tells Navasota News the department will focus this year on protecting your vehicle and belongings.
Hosting a block party is fairly simple, she adds. All you need to do is call the Police Department and then prepare some drinks. And they will send out an officer to each party with tips on keeping you safe.
Gurka says national night out has proven to be effective, cheap and a great way to meet your neighbors in a way that will extend beyond just one night.
If you would like to help put on a block party or get more information call 936-825-61-24. The deadline to volunteer is noon October 3rd (friday).
