Good news if you’re like most folks who have pretty much given up on the possibility of honest, financial transparent government, the City of Navasota has just received an award for just that from the Texas Comptroller’s Office.
City Financial Director Lance Hall tells Navasota News the city received the Comptroller’s Platinum award by doing, showing and making a lot easily accessible to the public.
From making sure check registers, audits and city budget is easy to find, getting the Mayor to sign a bond pledge and contact information of elected officials, the list goes on.
The State Comptroller of public accounts launched this award in 2009 to recognize local governments that are striving to meet a high standard for online transparency.
Hall says it makes him feel good to keep, “our citizens and employees aware of what’s going on.”
So if you are wondering what’s going on in our city, Hall says all you need to do is go to navasotatx.gov and take a look around for yourself. For more information call 936- 825-6475.
