One former Navasota resident is getting help from her former church family this weekend to help her pay for a new kidney.
Dolita Moor Thigpen tells Navasota News she moved to Houston more than two decades ago and her health had been up and down. Then two years ago, her doctor gave her some shocking news, both of her kidneys had failed and she needed to get on dialysis or die.
Thankfully, Thigpen reports, she has more than a few friends ready and willing to give her one of their kidneys. So that means all she has to do now is to raise the money so she can afford the surgery’s hefty price tag. And that’s where Navasota’s Friendship Missionary Baptist Church comes in.
The church will be hosting a benefit concert on her behalf this weekend, she continues, trying to raise enough in donations to get her through the surgery.
Friendship Missionary Baptist Church’s Concert begins at 5 Saturday (03/19) afternoon. And you are invited to be in the congregation, or choir, as are any gospel groups and soloists who are interested in helping out. To find out more, call 832-516-7569.
