The budget for the 2022 fiscal year has been approved by the City of Navasota.
Finance director for the city Lance Hall presented the final version at last Monday’s City Council meeting, which totaled out to just a hair under $36 million dollars.
“In that, we have a three percent cost of living increase for employees. There are lease payments for a new fire truck, backhoes, a new sweeper, then work down at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. There is also money in there for the warehouse, once we figure out what to do with that,” said Hall.
As far as the tax rate, which we have mentioned on our station recently, was approved, and will stay the same, at .5693.
“With that, we will bring in $2,447,000 for M&O, and then $343,000 for the debt rate,” Hall said.
While the tax rate stays the same, taxes themselves will increase by about $25 throughout the course of the year.
