A new, large subdivision is coming to Navasota. Blackrock builders, who build Dove Court and Dove Crossing, are taking on their third project in Navasota, which is dubbed “Hidden Hills.” The neighborhood will be near North La Salle and Millican Street, with entrance off Laredo Street.
Community Development Director Guadalupe Diosdado said the rezoning of the land from General Business to Planned Unit Development was approved by Planning and Zoning with just one minor change.
“They were requesting sidewalks on one side, and now it is on both. Overall, the rest of the document is per our standards,” said Diosdado.
Representative from Blackrock, Thomas Pack, was asked about the potential for some green space, or a park located within the neighborhood, which he says is up in the air right now.
“Of course, we are doing a cost analysis too…if we have to do the park land fee, then we might as well build those as lots and sell a home on them. So, we are just weighing those options,” said Pack.
Mayor Bert Miller, alongside the rest of council, noted that there is not many parks to choose in that location.
“That is an area of the city that desperately needs a recreation facility,” said Miller.
‘We will keep that in mind,” Pack said.
“However it could be designed, it would be a wonderful thing for all the residents in that area,” said Miller.
City council approved the ordinance for that zoning change, to allow development of the new Hidden Hills neighborhood. No timetable is set for construction. For questions, contact the city at 936-825-6475.
