A few months ago, Navasota city Council heard from Community Development Director Guadalupe Diosdado on a proposal from one local to purchase several plots of city owned land. At that meeting, council tabled the possible sale, in order for an appraisal of all the properties listed to be performed.
Diosdado presented the findings at the most recent city council meeting.
“The total sum of all properties, combined, was $130,000, and the appraisal cost was $3,500. We got with legal, and as we have done with past property sales, the ‘sealed bid method’ is the quickest way of getting that property out for sale, so that is what staff is recommending,” said Diosdado.
The four tracts of property would be on Jones Road, Baker Street, Lincoln Street, and a property just off West Farqhuar, west of Davis Street.
And while the man who originally submitted the proposal has not commented on the potential purchase, Diosdado says other interested parties are emerging.
“I have had others inquire about it. Actually this morning, I had someone call and ask when the list was coming back to council,” said Diosdado. “So, we have a few people interested.”
Council approved the method of going through a sealed bid for the four city properties up for sale.
