Navasota City Council Gives Republic a Go

January 15, 2015 by Willy1550

Navasota residents might be seeing Republic sanitation trucks more often as city council tentatively agreed to renew it’s contract this week, with the addition of having Republic handle brush piles as well.

Following a debate on how big your brush pile can be and in what manner you’ll now be able to put out. Council gave its temporary approval. The only member to disagree was Geoff Horn, stating, citizens would not like the trouble they’d have to go through.

After the meeting Mayor Pro-tem Peter Canney explained to Navasota News this possible transition could free up the city’s workforce for other projects.

Council also approved Grantworks inc. To prepare grant applications for the city. If successful, it would fund park improvements.

Grantworks representative Kelly Odom, clarified for council, that if the city does not get the grant, the park improvements would have to wait.

The next regular council meeting will be Monday January 26th, and Navasota News will be in city hall council chambers at 6, just in case you can’t be.
