Navasota City Council sees one change on Election Night, as Grimes County results roll in

Election Night 2020 results are in for Grimes County.

Starting with the local elections, the Navasota City Council will see a change. In the race for Position 2 on the council, Pattie Pederson won 54.48 percent of the vote, to defeat Geoff Horn.

Two other city council spots were on the ballot, but saw no change. Position 1 Councilman Bernie Gessner retained his seat, defeating Randy Peters with 57 percent of the vote. Josh Fultz in position 3 returns to council after running unopposed.

For the unexpired term of the Grimes County Treasurer, Jim Bob Trant defeated Tara Gamble with 77 percent of the vote.

Out in Bedias, Gwen Bouillon garnered 82 percent of the vote to become mayor. The town also elected an alderperson, which was decided by less than one percent, as Walter Rogers beat Randall Richards by one vote.

The town of Anderson elected Daryl Alford as the town alderman, as he beat out Carnell Carrell by 5 votes.
The City of Iola will keep Christina Stover as mayor, and have elected Becky Evans as alderman.

On the more national scale, Congressman Kevin Brady retained his seat after taking 72 percent of the vote over Elizabeth Hernandez. In Grimes County, Brady took 76 percent of the vote.

In the presidential election, President Donald Trump’s showing in Grimes County was high, as he took 75 percent of the vote here in the county.

There were no other changes to Grimes County Commissioner Court, County Attorney, or Sheriff, as everyone retained their seats.
