Navasota City Manager open to idea of ride sharing, taxi services in town

March 30, 2021 by Willy1550

Ride sharing companies have taken over in recent years, as things such as Uber and Lyft have shown up all over. However, Navasota rarely sees any in town. Is it legal to operate a taxi service or ride sharing service in town?

City Manager Brad Stafford says yes, you can start one up if you wish.

“I do not know of too many rules on it…we do not have an ordinance against it. We would like to have an Uber. Might need to go somewhere,” said Stafford during the most recent Grilling Stafford episode.

The question about the taxi and ride sharing services came to him from a citizen.

Now, in some cities, there may be paperwork or costs associated with singing up. But, not in Navasota.

“No permit, no fee,” Stafford said.

If you have questions about setting up a ride share service in Navasota, contact the city at 936-825-6475.
