Navasota Council wary of 249

September 26, 2014 by Willy1550

The Navasota City Council officially put TxDot on notice regarding the now infamous highway 249 project, during this week’s session. Councilman Geoff Horn said he became concerned when he heard rumors about the proposed highway completely bypassing the city.

Horn told council it looks to him like TxDot has given itself a lot of wiggle room on 249.

And speaking of deals and boundaries, things got easier Monday for developers and owners in Navasota’s general business district, as council passed an ordinance allowing owners and developers to build up to the property line, as city manager brad stafford explained.

In addition to finalizing the city’s budget for next year, council also passed an amendment Monday to increase this year’s budget. Unexpected police incidents and new officers, as well as the costs to upgrade to several police computer systems were the stated reasons.

The next council meeting is Monday evening, October 13th and we of course will be there just in case you can’t be.
