Navasota cracking down on illegal dumping

November 27, 2018 by Andre Perrard

The City of Navasota has been cracking down on illegal dumping within the city limits. At Monday night’s city council meeting, community development specialist Chris Gruver gave an update on how many people have been busted thus far.

“Through some…enhanced surveillance techniques we’ll say, we have been able to catch quite a few folks illegally dumping inside our town. I have filed on 13 folks so far. Several of them have been to see the judge, and the videos that I have…have come in really handy,” said Gruver.

Gruver also added that the judge is levying a heavy fine against those who violate the law.

“The judge wanted me to let you know that he is holding people accountable. And every time they go before him, if they are in fact guilty, he is levying a $595 fine on these folks. So, it is not cheap to dump inside Navasota,” Gruver stated.

If you have any questions regarding trash pick up or dumping, you can contact the city at 936-825-6450.
