It’s suddenly become less expensive to live in, or have a business here in Navasota, because the city has finally achieved its long-sought-after improved safety rating of 3.
Fire Chief Jason Katkoski tells Navasota News the International Standardization Organization looks at three different areas, the fire department, local water systems and the emergency dispatch center to come up with the ratings. And after training and several rounds of improvements Katkoski smiles, ISO gave the city the thumbs up.
But before you or your neighbors can reap the benefits, the chief cautions, you may have to let your insurance provider know about the improvement. As with the better rating, insurance costs should decrease.
And there’s even more the city wants to do that’ll mean even greater savings, Katkoki adds. The goal is to eventually get a rating of 2. But, he admits, the department’ll have to take that job on, one stage at a time.
