A local student has been nominated for a spot as a delegate at a national event.
Navasota High School sophomore Zyria Basey, an honor student, will be a delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Lowell, Massachusetts this year.
The congress is an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields.
Zyria’s nomination was signed by Dr. Mario Capecchi, winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine and the Science Director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists. She was chosen to represent Navasota high School based on her achievements in academics, leadership potential and determination to serve in the medicine field.
During the congress, Zyria joins other students to hear speakers, receive advice, and learn about cutting edge medical technologies.
The Congress will be June 24th through 26th in Lowell, Massachusetts.
