Navasota ISD is moving to their online format for this week, citing a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
According to the district Facebook page, after tracking at around 0.5% of positive COVID cases all year, three campuses have hit the 2% positivity threshold in the last week. That has led to the district shutting down in person learning for this week, before the Holiday break.
In addition, the district said that the number of staff missing due to positive tests or contact tracing would have made covering in-person classes this week very difficult.
Any NISD staff that is not sick must report by 8 am Monday to their campus.
As for students, they will be at home learning this week. High school students will be marked as exempt from semester exams. Students may take the exam in January if it is necessary to the student receiving credit for the course. If a student or parent has questions on that, contact the teacher immediately.
The district says the online learning will go on for this week only, December 14th through 18th.
