Construction work on phase two of the bond projects at Navasota ISD are coming right along, as the summer months approach.
Stephen Barry, from Barry and Clay, talked about one of the big finishes they got done at the high school, during the most recent NISD School Board meeting.
‘The chillers have been set in place, all the pumps are installed, the piping is insulated. All we are waiting for now is a transformer fro Entergy, so we can get them turned on. Currently, we have to wait for that before we can make a complete, permanent switch to the new chillers,” said Barry.
He added that there has been demo and fixes in the cafeteria, and the new boilers have been installed as well.
And after many years, the high school finally got a technology overhaul.
“We took out the ceiling grid and started putting in new lights, running new technology, new fire alarm, public address…getting all that ready. We will come back in and have new tile in all those areas to brighten it up,” said Barry.
And at the Junior High, the new facility for the Kickstart Kids of Navasota is going well.
“The brick is installed, the roof is installed. They are actually cutting holes into the Junior High and blocking up the walls along the dining room where there were windows. Getting the duct work installed in the Dojo area, and getting ready so we can turn the H VAC on,” Barry said.
He mentioned there are no big updates from Phase three construction yet.
