Two Navasota KickStart Kids have won state championships in the 2019 KickStart Kids State Championships this past weekend.
Over 700 students across the state gathered for the championships at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville. Navasota, led under direction of Master Benjamin Mendez, had eight students qualify for the state championships. The students were Fredrick Stratton, Darrell Stratton Jr, Rebecca Stratton, Lillian Mahan, Christopher Price, Karina Arredondo, Ramon Arredondo and Penn Morgan. They qualified for various events, including Traditional Performance, Weapons Performance and Point Sparring.
Christopher Price earned a state championship in Weapons Performance and a bronze in Traditional Performance.
Penn Morgan earned two state championships, one in Weapons Performance and one other in Traditional Performance.
The Navasota KickStart Kids will have upcoming performances at the Chuck Norris 5K at Texas A&M on Saturday, May 4th and will have their upcoming Spring Belt ceremony on Thursday, May 23 at Navasota Junior High.
