On Tuesday February 1st, the Navasota Lady Rattlers basketball team defeated Wharton 52-15, which took them closer to another playoff appearance. But, more importantly, it meant program win number 1,000 for the Lady Rattlers overall.
Heads coach for the last 24 years, Tommy Gates, was joined by Lady Rattlers from years past on Tuesday night this week during the ladies win over Sealy, to celebrate the historic feat.
“Whether you were a player, coach, assistant coach…Coach Bay was here 12 years, I have been here for 24 years. All of you have contributed greatly to this feat, and we thank you,” said Gates, during a halftime recognition ceremony.
The Lady Rattlers record now, all time, is 1,002 wins with 423 losses, for a winning percentage of over 70 percent.
