Navasota man arrested for animal cruelty in Brazos County

January 14, 2019 by Andre Perrard

A man from Navasota has been arrested in Brazos County on charges of animal cruelty.

According to the arrest report, 54 year old Lupe Garcia was detained on January 13th after authorities received a call about extremely malnourished and emaciated horses at his location, the 3100 block of Pleasant Hill Rd.

Garcia stated he did not want the horses, but was taking care of them, as recent as they day before, because his wife was out of town. Garcia also said he noticed the horses looking skinny, but was not sure why, also saying he had not sought veterinarian care.

The veterinarian on site determined it was best for the animals to be transported to the texas A&M large animal hosptial.

Garcia remains in the Brazos County Jail on $4,000 bond.
