A Navasota man was arrested in College Station early Monday morning on charges of assault family violence.
According to the College Station Police arrest report, they responded to a call around 2 am Monday to the Wyndham Garden Hotel in College Station for a civil disturbance. The report stated a guest called the front desk to let them know a male was beating up a female and “it does not sound good.” The caller noted he could hear the woman screaming, and the male slapping her.
Once arriving at the scene, the man was detained, and admitted the two had been dating on and off for about a year, and had recently gotten back together.
The argument happened as the two returned from Houston, when they woman said she was going to leave. That is when the man admitted to grabbing her to prevent her from leaving, and at one point, choking her on the bed for approximately 10 seconds, according to his admission.
The report says the woman estimated around 30 seconds, and felt she was going to pass out, rating his grip strength a “5” on a 1-10 scale.
The woman sprayed pepper spray, which the man said led him to swinging a few times, but it was unclear if he made contact with the woman.
After a brief pause, where the woman tried contacting her cousin and the man threw the phone away, the two’s argument ventured into the hallway and elevator, where they eventually met police. Officers observed on the woman’s neck scratches and head, along with a busted lip and bruising to her arm.
The man was arrested, and identified as 23 year old Travorrius Travon Curley of Navasota.
He was arrested on charges of assault family violence, and interfering with an emergency call, and is in the Brazos County jail on bonds totaling $12,000.
