A bike cop observing uncooperative bar patrons at Northgate turns into a physical altercation between a Navasota man and police, which ends with his arrest.
That happened Saturday night outside the Social bar, when the two men fled as officers tried inserting themselves into the situation. The two men walked away, and officers let them be, but the two shouted things at the officer again from an alleyway.
Eventually, the officer stopped 21 year old Cordarius DJuan Calhoun of Navasota to talk about him jaywalking moments earlier. Calhoun tried running from the officer, and the two became engaged in an altercation. The arrest report states that the altercation turned from Calhoun running away, to Calhoun attempting to assault the officer, with attacks being directed toward him instead of trying to flee.
The officer headbutted Calhoun to eventually subdue him. On his person, police found a loaded, un-holstered Beretta 9 mm handgun, which the officer stated placed him and Calhoun in immediate physical danger during their tussle.
Calhoun was taken to jail on two charges of Resisting Arrest, Deadly Conduct, and evading Arrest. He was released on Tuesday, after posting a $23,000 bond.
