Navasota man facing criminal charges after rear ending stopped State Trooper

A Navasota man is facing felony charges after rear ending a state trooper on Tuesday.

The officer had stopped to render aid near Westward Ho to a stranded motorist. Around 10 am, a 2016 Ford Focus travelling northbound went off the shoulder, partially in the ditch, and hit the trooper vehicle.

The Trooper was outside the vehicle, and unharmed. Inside the cruiser was a TXDOT employee, who was treated n scene.

The driver of the Focus, 31 year old Edrick Peterson of Navasota, was taken to the hospital to be treated. He currently faces charges f DWI, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

He is in jail on bonds totaling $42,000, which includes a warrant out of Navasota for theft.

An investigation is ongoing, and n further information has been released.
