Life in prison sentence handed down to Navasota man for sexually assaulting a child

February 6, 2023 by Andre Perrard

A Navasota man will spend the rest of his life in jail for sex crimes against children.

The Grimes County District Attorney’s Office says they sentenced 40 year old Marcus Leshun Sargent last Thursday for sexually assaulting 2 year old child in July of 2020.

Navasota Police looked into the allegations during that time, alongside Child Protective Services, and found witnesses to the assault, who said they walked into the room as it happened.

Sargent confessed to the crimes a few days later. A Grimes County Jury last week took three days to find him guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.

Sargent has also been placed on deferred adjudication for assaulting a 14 year old female, which weighed in the life sentence.

He is awaiting transfer to prison.
