A train versus pedestrian accident in Navasota last night has left a man in critical condition.
That happened around 10:30 pm last night, when Navasota PD was dispatched to the scene. There, they found the victim, 71 year old Blanche Steward.
That train hit the brakes, coming to a complete stop, which ended up damaging a few of the buckling’s on the cars, according to Navasota PD.
All the crossings in town were blocked for about 6 hours, while crews restore the train, and cleared the city.
Steward, at last check, was in critical condition in the hospital. Steward is visually impaired, and lives near the railroad tracks, in a tiny home recently built by Helping Hands of Grimes County.
Navasota Police chief Shawn Myatt says that it is believed he left his home, and did not realize he had wandered onto the tracks.
No further information has been released.
