Calls for a man rummaging through vehicles lands a Navasota man in the Brazos County Jail.
That incident happened on Friday night, according to the Bryan Police arrest report, at the Midtown apartments parking lot. One woman stated an unknown, black male was rifling through her vehicle.
As an officer observed at the front gate, he saw a male walk across the back portion of the parking lot. An unknown vehicle’s headlight illuminated the officer’s presence, and that is when they saw the male place a dark item behind a tree. After making contact with the man, officers retrieved the item, which was a .38 Special handgun with five bullets.
The male stated he walked to the location after an argument with his girlfriend and did not live at the location.
Further investigation revealed the firearm was stolen from one of the vehicles, along with approximately $77 dollars in cash. The owner of the gun also decided to press charges.
The man was arrested, and identified as 23 year old Devante Tyler Robinson of Navasota. Robinson had a felony conviction out of Grimes County for Burglary of a Habitation. Based on the circumstances, Robinson was arrested on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Theft of a Firearm.
He was released Monday after posting a $13,000 bond.
