Navasota Officers injured in pursuit, arrest

July 10, 2019 by Willy1550

The Holiday weekend in Navasota resulted in a pursuit, an arrest and injury to a few officers .

It all began around 1 pm in the 700 block of Radcliff Street. The officer is said to have recognized the suspect, and the suspect then fled on foot and entered a residence in the 700 block of Universal Street. Authorities said the man had a parole violation for cutting off his ankle monitor.

The suspect refused when given the chance to voluntarily exit, so officer proceeded to enter the residence, where the suspect began a physical altercation with officers. Navasota PD Chief Shawn Myatt said he believes the suspect was under the influence of PCP and Marijuana.

The suspect was identified at 30 year old Michael Fletcher of Navasota. He was arrested and faces a slew of charges, including five counts of assault on a police officer, which is a third degree felony, one count of resisting arrest, one count of evading on foot and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The officers injured in the incident were treated at CHI St Joseph in Navasota and released soon afterward.

Fletcher, meanwhile, was treated at Baylor Scott and White in College Station and then taken to the Grimes County Jail, where he remains on bonds totaling $58,000. He, however, is not eligible for release because of his felony parole violation and a blue warrant.
