Navasota PD arrest man after foot chase

February 28, 2019 by Andre Perrard

A man sent Navasota Police on a foot chase before being arrested on Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, Navasota officers received reports of a stolen U-Haul out of Harris County. Officers waited along Highway 6 and around 8 am yesterday (Wednesday) morning, they spotted the van coming on South Business 6.

As officers performed the traffic stop, the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and fled to a wooded area. K-9 units were called in and the man was arrested under an hour later. Grimes County and Department of Public Safety troopers also assisted.

The suspect was identified as 32 year old Cary Peterson of Madisonville. He was taken to the Grimes County Jail and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest on foot and had 7 out of county warrants. He has a bail totaling $94,000.
