The Navasota P.D. is one of only of twenty of the state’s 26-thousand law enforcement agencies awarded a three thousand dollar grant this year from the Texas Department of Transportation and the TMPA.
NPD’s Lt. Justin Leeth tells Navasota News it’s the department’s second such award in the last eight years.
In presenting the oversized check, TxDot traffic safety specialist Terri Miller said getting the award is as much a matter of luck as anything else.
And, she added, the department is pretty free to do what it wants to do with the money.
Miller explained set-asides from federal money given to TxDot funds the annual award, adding that Navasota is the only department to win this year in TxDot’s entire 10-county Bryan District.
