Navasota Police Arrest Suspect Following Reckless Driving and Shooting Incident

February 5, 2025 by Willy1550

According to a press release from the City of Navasota, “On Friday, January 31, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Navasota Police Department (NPD) received a report of a reckless driver on State Highway 6 South. The caller reported that the vehicle exited the highway while officers were enroute. Shortly after, another caller reported seeing a male suspect firing a weapon from the vehicle toward a parked car in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Witnesses then saw the suspect flee the scene via the feeder road, driving north in the southbound lanes. Upon arrival, Navasota officers located a truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot with damage consistent with gunshots.

Officers immediately began searching the area for the suspect vehicle while also increasing security measures at nearby schools as a precaution. The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office received information indicating that the suspect may have fled onto FM 2154. In response, Navasota Police Officers, DPS Troopers, and Brazos County Sheriff’s Deputies coordinated a search of the area.

Navasota Police Officers successfully located the suspect’s vehicle at the intersection of Henderson Road and Reservation Street in Millican, TX. Upon approaching a nearby residence, officers found the suspect on the porch and took him into custody.

The suspect, Charles Medina (29) of Millican, TX, was found to be under the influence, prompting a response from the College Station Fire Department and South Brazos County Fire Department. During the investigation, officers recovered a firearm and additional evidence at the scene. Medina was taken into custody and charged with Deadly Conduct, Criminal Mischief, and Reckless Driving.”
