Navasota Police assisted this weekend in apprehending a Bryan man who took a vehicle, and credit cards, with the hopes of moving away from the area.
The arrest report from Bryan Police says they got the call for the stolen vehicle on Sunday night, which had been left running with the leys inside at a Popeye;;’s restaurant on Harvey Mitchell Parkway.
The victim was able to ping his vehicle through OnStar, and authorities tracked the vehicle as it went south on Highway 6, eventually entering Navasota,
NPD was able to stop the vehicle just south of Highway 105 on Highway 6, and spoke with 24 year old David Rey Rodriguez Jr. of Bryan. He said he found it unoccupied and running, and just decided to take it, with the intent of moving to Houston.
When asked if he had permission to use the vehicle, Rodriguez said no, and then was found with multiple credit and debit cards in his possession, which did not belong to him. Charges were found at a local gas station, which Rodriguez admitted to.
He was taken to jai, facing charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Credit/Debit Card Abuse. Rodriguez remains in jail on bonds that total $10,000.
