Crimes in and around Grimes County kept Navasota Police busy last week with two high speed pursuits, and a shots fired call in a five day span.
The action started November 29th, when NPD was asked to assist in spiking suspects tires in a Waller County chase. As the truck ran from Highway 249 onto Highway 105, the spike strip managed to stop the man, 25 year old Dequanduz Blue of Jasper, just south of the Highway 90 overpass. He fled on foot for a short time, jumping off the overpass, before being taken into custody.
Three days later on December 3rd, NPD responded to a shots fired call on Sauls Street. Several witnesses said a male shot at them in the residence, wand fled the scene. Eventually, 33 year old Franqueis Powell of Navasota was identified as the shooter, and jailed on three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. No one was injured during the shooting.
The next day, December 4th, Navasota Police were again asked to assist Waller County deputies in a pursuit, this time for a vehicle heading north on Highway 6. Spike strips were again used, and managed to incapacitate the custom painted Dodge Charger near FM 2154. 34 year old Rashad Ross of Richmond was taken to jail on multiple charges in Waller County.
No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
