Navasota Police Department Gets One Step Further In The Process For Texas Department Of Transportation Approval For Placement Of License Plate Readers

April 23, 2024 by Willy1550

Among the agenda items at Monday night’s meeting of Navasota City Council, was “consideration and possible action on Resolution No. 764-24, authorizing the Mayor to approve a multiple use agreement for the installation of automated license plate recognition cameras on Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) rights-of-way.”

The Navasota Police Department currently has a portable License Plate Reader (LPR) that is used to identify stolen vehicles, missing persons, and other assistance in crimes. However, the department is limited on where it can be placed.

Navasota Police Chief, Mike Mize, explained why the passage of this resolution is an integral part in the process of getting TxDOT approval.
