Navasota Police officer dies in off-duty motorcycle crash

A Navasota Police Officer has died.

It was confirmed on Tuesday that Officer William Cooper of Navasota PD lost his life in a motorcycle accident. According to the release from Navasota PD, Cooper was in Sturgis, South Dakota fulfilling a lifelong dream of attending the annual motorcycle rally there.

Cooper, who joined the Navasota Police Department near the end of 2019, was off-duty at the time of the crash. He spent two years with the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, and was a graduate of the TEEX Program.

Funeral services are set for next week.

There will be a Lie In State at Navasota City Hall on Monday, August 17th from 12 pm to 6 pm.

The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 18th at 10 am, and will be held at Rattler Stadium.
