According to a press release from the City of Navasota, “On Friday, January 31, 2025, at approximately 2:25 p.m., the Navasota Police Department (NPD) received a report of a reckless driver traveling on Highway 6. Minutes later, officers were dispatched to the Walmart parking lot in response to a call reporting shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle that had been struck multiple times by gunfire. The suspect fled the scene, traveling north in the south-bound lane of the Highway 6 feeder road toward Brazos County.
NPD, in coordination with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Brazos County deputies, gathered information indicating the suspect’s vehicle had continued onto FM 2154. After an extensive, but quick search, NPD officers successfully located the vehicle and safely detained the suspect.
As a precautionary measure, Navasota Junior High and Navasota High School were placed on a soft lockdown, with officers stationed on-site to ensure student and staff safety.”
