Navasota Police searching for new chief, as Shawn Myatt seeks employment elsewhere

April 11, 2022 by Andre Perrard

Navasota Police will be searching for a new chief, after current chief Shawn Myatt announced his intention to depart on Friday.

The city issues a press release that said Myatt told city manager Jason Weeks that he is seeking employment elsewhere.  In the meantime, Myatt, who is the assistant city manager, will transition into that role full time.

The city thanked Myatt for his years of service, and also announced Lieutenant Mike Mike will take over interim chief duties. Mize was sworn in as the interim chief on Monday afternoon.

The search will be nationwide, according to the city, with an extensive interview process. For questions, contact the city.
