At approximately 11:47pm last night (Tuesday May 30th), Navasota Police officers were dispatched to the Union Pacific railroad tracks along Railroad Street between Washington Avenue and Blackshear Street for a possible pedestrian being struck by a train.
Navasota Police Department and Navasota Fire Department searched the area and located a male subject along the tracks near the intersection of Railroad and Stoneham Street. The male was deceased.
The train was traveling southbound through Navasota and stopped shortly after the impact. During the investigation, the Blackshear Street crossing was blocked for several hours.
The deceased was identified as Lee Johnson (60) out of Navasota. At approximately 3am the train was removed from the scene and all crossings were opened.
