The one way in and out of Dove Crossing has frustrated folks for awhile. So, are there plans to maybe continue Dove Crossing Lane to hook into a proposed arterial that would run between Highway 90 and 105?
City Manager Brad Stafford said during an episode of Grilling Stafford recently that right now, there is no plan. It is something in their minds as they work on their current thoroughfare plan, but it may prove tricky to accomplish.
“You know, we have looked at that subdivision for years. Trying to figure out ways to connect it in another manner. One thing we talk about, that subdivision was approved many, many years ago. A lot of our ordinances have changes, a lot of TXDOT’s rules have changed since that was approved,” Stafford said. “Some of that will be difficult to make that connection, but not saying it is impossible.”
Stafford does mention that there is no guarantee that TXDOT ever even builds the proposed arterial. The city is working, through the thoroughfare project, to present the idea to them.
The topic of land condemnation is a touchy one in the county too, with the high speed rail issues. Stafford says they could do that technically, but in the end, they would rather work with landowners to get a deal done.
“We are not at that point yet. Sometimes for progress, you have to find land. But, we would do that the best way we could,” Stafford said.
He noted, again, that any plans for that are in preliminary phases, including the plan itself.
