After some uncertainty about having enough lifeguards to even open, the Navasota City pool is on track to have a splashing summer!
“[Colton Haffie] told me this week that he has hired two more, so we have four lifeguards now. He was interviewing a few more, he has to get them trained, some are not trained yet,” said Stafford. ‘But, we are going pretty well, and should be able to do it.”
That was Navasota City Manager Brad Stafford during the most recent Grilling Stafford episode.
He said Haffie, their new parks and recreation coordinator, has been working to ensure that they have reserve lifeguard to avoid adjusted hours or total closure.
“Communicating with other pools, Texas A&M, trying to find some lifeguards to at least be substitute lifeguards, and he has some that may help us out that way. We are getting there, just takes time…training people…finally got a little more interest,” said Stafford.
Applications are still open for being a lifeguard for Navasota. Training will also be covered by the city, should you not be certified. Any applications must be 15 years of age or older.
He did not mention a specific date for opening the pool.
