A Navasota woman making herself at home in a strangers apartment remains in the Brazos County jail on burglary and drug charges.
According to the College Station Police arrest report, a caller stated his coworker went to his apartment, where he lived alone, and said the deadbolt was locked from the inside, indicating someone was in the apartment. The man had given no one permission to enter, and there was only one key available.
Officers found the woman trying to escape through a back window, and she admitted she and a friend cam tot he apartment the previous day. Her friend claimed to have known the resident, saying the front door was unlocked when they arrived. While inside, the woman admitted to doing a load of laundry, while the other suspect made French fries in an air fryer, which both consumed.
The woman also said the resident allowed them to take property, which included a recliner and bedroom set. She and the other suspect stayed over night on May 30th, staying into the next day when police arrived.
Inside the dryer was women’s clothing, which the resident said was not his, and it was also noted his broadband router had been moved to the floor near an air mattress. Found on the woman as well was a THC vape pen.
The second suspect is still outstanding, but police arrested the woman, 37 year old Vanessa Danzell Ashford of Navasota on charges of Burglary of a Habitation, and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG2.
She remains in jail on bonds totaling $15,000.
