Navasota woman jailed on DWI charge after claiming she crashed to avoid hitting animal

October 31, 2022 by Willy1550

A Navasota woman who claimed she swerved into traffic to avoid hitting an animal was arrested this weekend on an elevated DWI charge.

College Station Police responded to the single vehicle crash in the 14700 block of FM 2154 early Saurday morning. The vehicle, when they arrived, had struck a guardrail, then collided with a pole.

24 year old Bethany Rosezella Linder of Navasota had her claim of “an animal in the roadway” refuted by a witness, who saw her swerve into oncoming traffic, almost causing an accident.

The arrest report noted that dispatch had received a call about Linder’s driving 20 minutes prior.

After failing sobriety tests, she was taken to jail, where her BAC registered at a .169 at it’s peak.

Linder is charged with DWI with a BAC greater than 0.15, and was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
