Navasota woman, out on bail for drunk driving and drugs, arrested for fraud at Bryan bank

January 31, 2022 by Andre Perrard

A Navasota woman out on bond for drunk driving and drug charges is back in the Brazos County jail for fraud.

The Bryan Police arrest report says they got a call for fraud in progress at the Frist National Bank on Highway 21. There, 34 year old Alicia Kay Herrera of Navasota was trying to cash a $200 check from a bank account owned by a man named Bobby Portillo.

Portillo had reported his vehicle burglarized, and had his bank account restricted, due to his check book being stolen.

Herrera said she received the check for performing work for a man named Fernando Reyes. She admitted to not knowing Portillo, and did not find it suspicious his name was on the check.

Herrera was taken to jail on charges of Possession of Fraudulent Identifying Information. She also had bond revoked for her DWI and drug charges. Herrera remains in jail on bonds totaling $17,000.
