A Navasota woman subject of a multi agency man hunt last month has been arrested for allegedly staging a kidnapping.
Navasota Police say on the morning of June 3rd, 19 year old Sonia Estupinan of Animal Control located a threatening letter to NPD employees. Three days later, around 8 am on June 6th, Estupinan reported she was being kidnapped.
A missing person search went on for 7 hours, which included the FBI, DPS, ATF, Game Wardens, The Sheriff’s Office, and Navasota and Bryan fire departments.
Estupinan was found dehydrated and unresponsive in a wooded area. She was treated, and eventually through their investigation, authorities obtained a confession from Estupinan that she wrote the letter, and staged the kidnapping.
She was arrested this week and remains in jail, facing charges of False Report to a Police Officer.
